Grovedale Tigers welcome back 24yo utility Ed Adams. Ed previously played for the tigers whilst studying at Deakin Uni. This morning we had a fantastic opportunity to re-connect with Cath OโConnor. Cath is a Life member of the club; was one of the clubs inaugural coaches, has held the role of President, committee member, and went on to coach and mentor many hundreds of players through her time at Grovedale.
Cath is pictured with current club President Kelly McCarthy, our inaugural joint Presidents Vicki Nicholls & Sherryn Vessey (who is now holding the role of Netball section secretary)
In 2006 the club introduced the โCath OโConnor Perpetual trophyโ for an โOutstanding junior club personโ within the netball section. This has been presented to many worthy recipients across the years.
With Cath now having lived in Queensland for the past 15 years, her involvement with the club has wavered. With Cathโs blessing, in 2024 the club rebranded the award to the โPeta Nicholls Perpetual Trophyโ.
Ruby McCarthy was also lucky enough to meet Cath. She was the recipient of the โCath OโConnor Trophyโ in 2023.
