Club favourite 'Matho' is a regular fixture at our home games and can be found commentating games outside the canteen.

A Grovedale local, Matho grew up on Heyers Road, not far from the footy ground, and would often come up to watch the cricket, around the time Jason Bakker was still playing.

He started coming to watch the footy about 20 years ago. Keen to get involved wih the club, he began bringing his commentating sticks along with him about 10 years ago, after hearing Dennis Cometti one night. Matho's original position for his commentating was the old timekeepers' box, until the club needed it for beer sales.

He only progressed to a real microphone the last 3-4 years, and watch out if anyone touches his equipment!

Some of his favourite lines include "The umpire crossed himself like the proverbial monsignor", "He gets it inside the attacking 50 and bends it back", "Give it to me and I'll bounce", "Get out of my way boxhead, I'm coming through."
