| Welcome to Season 2013 with the Grovedale Tigers Junior Football Club.
The 2013 junior season kicks off for all juniors the weekend of April 12, 13 and 14, which is the week after Easter. This may seem like a fair way away, but it will come around quickly so it is very important for all players to get to training.
Training starts on the following dates:
U16 - 10/2/13 4:45pm-6:00pm Grovedale Secondary College
U14 - 28/2/13 4:30pm-6:00pm Grovedale Secondary College
U12 - 20/2/13 4:30pm-6:00pm Grovedale West Primary School Oval
U10 - 19/2/13 4:30pm-6:00pm Grovedale West Primary School Oval
Season 2013 will see one very significant change for our Junior Section as we head into an online registration and payment system to streamline our player registration process. The current manual registration process generates an enormous amount of paperwork and many hours of work is required to process these. This new system will become a Football Geelong requirement of all clubs in the coming seasons, so we have decided to get on the front foot and make a start now. The committee believes that this will save significant time for everyone and will be an easier way of registering.
Unfortunately this process will see the registration fees rise for the first time in a number of years. I feel this is a small amount to pay for what will be a better system overall. I hope that you will all bear with us as we set this registration process up. The fees for 2013 are:
- Under 16 $170
- Under 14 $170
- Under 12 $130
- Under 10 $110
Sibling discounts will continue to apply in Season 2013 covering both football and netball, with discounts applying to the younger child/children in your family. IMPORTANT: If are registering more than one child, DO NOT proceed to “Pay Now” and DO NOT enter your payment details in the online registration system. Instead, please attend one of the registration days to organise payment and ensure the appropriate discounts are applied.
Registration days will be held to cater for sibling discount families, families unable to register online and for new player registrations. EFTPOS facilities will be available.
These days are: Sunday 17/2/13 10am-1pm and Sunday 17/3/13 10am-1pm at the Grovedale Club Rooms.
I am pleased to announce the coaching staff for season 2013. They are:
Under 16A Brendan Forssman; Under 16B Brett Cole and Wayne Fedley; Under 16C Jody Parker Under 14 Tigers (A) Des Kelly and Tim Russell; Under 14 Gold (B) Paul Whyte; Under 14 Black (C) Ash Gemmill
Under 12 Ray Martin, Dave Goodman and Jeff Shiell
Under 10 Jake Cranny, Lochie McIntyre and TBA.
As you can see we are a couple of coaches short in the under 10 level so if any parent is interested in coaching a team please get in contact with myself or any committee member. Parents, players and supporters are all reminded that these people are volunteering their time to support, encourage, teach, and guide these young footballers. I trust that everyone will support the coaching staff and respect their decisions.
Each team can’t take the field without various match day helpers. Team Managers are often struggling to find parents minutes before the game commences to fill game critical roles such as central umpires and goal umpires (there are many other roles to be found as well!). Can I please encourage all parents to become involved in their child’s team by finding the Team Manager well before the game and offer them your help - this help is appreciated.
While results haven’t been what our senior sections have hoped for over the past couple of years, our senior netballers and footballers have been working extremely hard over the pre-season with their fitness, skills and some very encouraging recruiting. I hope that you will all be able to get along to Burdoo Reserve on Saturdays during the season to support the senior sections of our club. Please keep an eye on the Grovedale Tigers Facebook page, school newsletters and your email for valuable information that will be heading out shortly.
I hope that you all enjoy this year at Grovedale and I look forward to seeing all players and parents supporting the mighty GROVEDALE TIGERS. If you have any concerns or queries, please send an email to
